Law ‘an excellent career choice for students’
Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The recent Supreme Court ruling, calling for bringing law schools under a central ministry, could pave the way for a common entrance test, said Hema Raman, director, Sriram Law Academy, here on Sunday. The Academy, which trains students to take law entrance examinations, organised an event to give students a primer on what it takes to enter a good law school and to honour rank holders from the Academy.

Additional Advocate General of Tamil Nadu P.S. Raman urged students present to try both litigation and corporate law before deciding on a career choice. Intellectual property law and pollution control are among the important emerging fields in law, he said. He predicted that an international law governing the Internet is likely to be codified soon, especially with the growing number of cross-border commercial transactions it has enabled. Toppers who have gained admission to various leading law schools including National Law School, Bangalore, NALSAR, Hyderabad, and NUJS, Kolkata, were felicitated by Y.G. Parthasarathy, Director, Padma Seshadri Group of Schools.

Law was an excellent career choice for both genders with women beginning to prove their worth, she said.
